DenKey Concepts
Work-in-progress project on key concepts and diagnostic understanding in physics education.
DenKey Concepts is an early-stage project on how learners and future teachers develop, use, and diagnose central concepts in physics education. The project is still being scoped, so this page records the intended direction rather than completed findings.
Research problem
Conceptual understanding in physics depends not only on knowing definitions, but on coordinating models, representations, language, and classroom tasks. This is especially demanding in topics where everyday intuitions conflict with scientific explanations.
Planned direction
The project is intended to connect conceptual diagnostics with learning materials and digital tools that make student thinking more visible. The emphasis will be on identifying productive conceptual resources, common difficulties, and representations that may support teaching decisions.
Current questions
Current planning focuses on which concepts, diagnostic tasks, and learner groups should be prioritised. The study design and project outputs are not yet final.
Status
Work in progress. No project-specific publications yet.
